Team History
In 1998 Knot A Breast was started by a small group of determined breast cancer survivors who came together with a shared vision: to create a team that would not only provide support to its members but also demonstrate the strength and resilience of survivors. This group of passionate women took to the water, paddling with purpose and unity, as a way to reclaim their strength, boost their spirits, and show the world and themselves that breast cancer survivors are unstoppable.
Knot A Breast was among Canada’s first dragon boat teams and is now one of over 360 breast cancer dragon boat teams worldwide. The sport of dragon boating has become a symbol of survivorship, as it combines physical activity, camaraderie, and a deep sense of purpose in raising awareness of breast cancer.
Since its inception, Knot A Breast has become a top competitor in the Breast Cancer Division competing in local, national and international tournaments.
Each stroke we take in the water represents not only our individual journeys but also the collective strength of all of those who have faced breast cancer. Our history is one of courage, transformation and inspiration.
Our mission
